Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

Why 33?

Why 33?

33.

Your Jesus year.

Your hustle year.

Your year where what was written comes to pass.

Your year of fulfillment.

I ain’t found it yet.

It’s crazy (and mildly depressing) to go through life thinking about the end of it, but my mind has a heavy emphasis on that dash between your start date and end date. When I get to the end of that dash and God says, “It is finished,” I don’t want my dumb ass to say, “For real, G?!”. I want to say, “That’s what’s up. Thanks for inviting me to the party.”

I’m not there yet.

Fun fact about me: I admire the hell out of Bobby Brown. Not even for his musical catalogue (even though it’s lit!) or his reality TV prowess (Being Bobby Brown was must-see TV. Idc! Idc! Idc!).

It’s because on that sad day when they go to eulogize him, no one will be able to say that he didn’t live his life. When Bobby goes home to glory, my boy is going spent! He will have used everything that God gave him and come back through! Tiiied! Finished! And he’ll have done it his way.

I can’t say that. But I want to.

So that’s what this blog is. My quest for a well-lived life. A fulfilled life. On my terms. I want to find my “33.”

Now, I don’t plan on doing a lot of hard drugs to get there (although a girl does wanna have fun. Hey Cyndi!), so I’ve identified the areas that I want to focus on that constitute a well-lived life for me. These areas may evolve over time, as I do, but they’re a start.

Spirituality- Listen. I’m a cussing Christian. I love Jesus and Trick Daddy (problematic as he is). He ain’t through with me yet.

Culture- It’s hard enough figuring out who you are and where you fit in. It’s harder still to be unapologetic about it. To boldly take up space and understand your impact and value. I want to enrich the culture. Then overcharge ‘em for what they did to the Cold Crush. Shout out to Jay. Wakanda Forever.

Love- Chyyyy. I can’t call it. I just know that it’s real. It keeps me sane. And it’s worth exploring.

Wellness- Self-care is self-love. Self-advocacy is self-love. I’m seriously neglected. That’s changing though.

Community- I believe we all have a duty to leave people/things better than we found them. I’ve got some ground to make up.

Travel- It’s a big world. Solange saw cranes in the sky. I just want to put footprints in the sand, foreign food in my belly, and different viewpoints in my head.

Foolishness- We’re here for a good time not a long time. Shout out to the Champagne Papi. Don’t nobody love me like Drake and Chick-fil-A.

Enrich. Engage. Explore. I’m in search of 33, y’all. I hope you find it too.

P.S. Long live Nipsey Hussle the Great. Congratulations on a life well-lived. And you did it in 33. Salute, King. #TMC
